Isn't that crazy???? Over these 201 posts, I went back to Zambia, I met my old chuddy-buddies, I wrote an SAT exam, I cried many many many tears, I travelled to a few places, I celebrated a my nineteenth birthday, I celebrated many other friends' birthdays, my brother got married, India got thrashed by Bangladesh in the 2007 world cup, I met many many new people, I read a lot of books, heard a lot of new music, watched many movies, moved to a new city, got into college, did a lot of stupid things,India won the Twenty20 world cup,I had a lot of fun... To many more posts...

Re-wiring
The newest on the lamp
Those of you who thought I spent too much on the lamp are not going to like this, cause I had to spend another 200 bucks on the damned thing. Turns out there was something wrong in the circuit. I took it to the shop and they tried putting in another tube in and it went kaputt just like the first one and so he opened it up and changed the circuit, so I pretty much have a new lamp except the pink and the red still remain. Please remind me NEVER EVER to buy any sort of electronic equipment on my own again! If a clock counts, that too. At the beginning of term I went and bought a clock that's looks quite cute but turned out to be disastrous - it makes a hell of noise EVERY second (i.e. the second hand moves with a loud sound!), and the alarm rings when you don't want it to ring. See, they all seem to work perfectly fine when I see them in the shops and then they turn into monsters as soon as I bring them home. Ah Life!

Back to Indiaaaaa!
Hey! Right, cause I'm lazy and I have loads of work to do but I REALLY have to post today, I'm copying and pasting what I posted on my Friend's Group wall on Facebook...
This was around 10:00 in the morning...
bahahaha! I just ran out of one of my classes telling my teacher i have to go somewhere urgently!! the urgent thing was supposed to be the indian team (my heroes! sigh!) who are supposed to drive past our college to the wankhade stadium but its pouring with rain and it got cancelled and my darling friends who passed on the message to me knew that and just forgot to tell me and went to their respective class! HAHAHA. I just hope my teacher doesn't ask me what was so URGENT. Well it was urgent. Come on! Did you SEE India play!? THEY WERE FANTASTIC!! We are the world! hee hee... later lovelies. beena
And then, just a few minutes ago...
I SAW THEM! I SAW THEM and sort of had to run out of another class but this time it wasn't a false alarm and we ALL went out... There was no stopping a bunch of teenage girls (all girls' college - we don't get to see many Y chromosomes around here and these boys, well they're the new heroes!!) ;) from going out to see a bunch of boys in blue (well they weren't really wearing blue but anyway...) driving past our college! We waited for aaaages, and it was crazeeeee and it kept raining... half my college was out on the street and a bunch of others from around the vicinity and cheering all sorts of things. (Hoo Haa India, Aaya India! CHAK DE INDIAAAA!) There was police to try and control the crazy mob. I tell you, only cricket can bring indians together like this!! It was sooo much fun...! O happy Day!
Okay, so slightly edited, but you get the gist of it. Heehee. I love living in Mumbai, there's so much happening here.

Dhoni and his boys in blue!
We Won!!!

(the cricket World Twenty20 cup incase you were wondering!)
Dream Game: Pakistan v/s India and don't we ALWAYS love a good game against them.
Fantastic and Young Team
Fantastic Captain: M.S. Dhoni (I'm really impressed!)
And Fantastic game: It was a close match and both sides played really well and it was REALLY close. Man! What a climax!
We kicked butt and it was a fantastic game!
Bonus: I watched it with Sonu!! And got fed amazing food by her aunty!
I love how everyone gets soo excited about cricket around here, after college (and the salsa workshop!) we caught a cab so we could get home quick and even the cab driver was talking to us about the cricket and asking about the score and stuff...
Ahhhh, its been a good day.

Why isn't anyone updating their blog??
Had a good day and was just thinking about how things have changed sooo much. I managed to figure out how to use Microsoft Outlook which is quite handy dandy when you want to read your emails when you're offline and I just went through some of my really old emails and sometimes I just can't believe that was me writing those things... So intensely different, feelings that I can barely imagine now, problems that seem trivial now, people I used to know very well but hardly know anything about anymore... And I was reminded of these two lines from a Matchbox 20 song that I really like...
For the life of me, I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and we'd never compromise
Change is definitely not bad, it can be uncomfortable and tragic at the time but I don't think its a bad thing. Change teaches you a lot and well, I've learnt a lot and its crazy how much we learn everyday... and I'm just grateful that the only reason I can get through all that is because I have a Rock to depend on who never changes. I think I would go mad otherwise...

Desperate times…
Call for desperate measures.
Here lies a view of my desk (messy desk) and on the left side is my new lamp which looks pretty decent from up here.
And then you zoom in…
And you see this! A heart for a switch and its baby pink. The pink is still bearable… It’s the heart that makes me want to barf!
I had little choice. Really.
Till now, my roomies and I had been depending on a kind neighbour’s extra lamp. And then their other lamp died. Alas, we were left lampless and in the dark at night. We tried to just keep the big tubelight on and see if it would pass sister Irene’s notice (the warden that is) but no. She notices almost everything. Nuff’ said. You see we may be independent adults in college but we still have rules and at 10:30 we’re only allowed to have table lamps on. Its actually a good rule cause atleast those in the room who want to sleep can do so with minimum disturbance. Anyway, so I went and emptied (literally) my pocket and bought this lamp… It wasn’t that expensive, I just happened to have exactly 17 Rupees less than the price they asked for in my wallet! I like how we can bargain in India. Well maybe it was expensive – Oh I dunno! I paid Rs. 470/= Is that reasonable? For some reason ALL the few lamp showrooms in the vicinity have a million fancy lamps – from chandeliers to abstract art lamps – and there would be just ONE simple table lamp sitting in a corner. So I had to take it this one.
Well it serves the purpose and I can go back to reading ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ before I go to sleep! They’re really quite good… I can’t believe I hadn’t read any until recently!

I have a lot of questions.
How can you justify one wrong thing by another?
For example: Abortion is better than Infanticide. Doing a drug that is legal is better than doing one that is illegal.
Why don’t we care about morality or think about what is wrong and what is right?
Why is it so wrong to put someone else before yourself? If you think about it, everyone would be so much happier that way. It shouldn’t be like you only give and don’t receive and it shouldn’t be the other way either.
Why do we love to point the finger at others and conveniently forget to examine ourselves?
Why do we blindly practice things? Why don’t we bother to find out what the reasons for something are?
Why do we look for temporary answers, temporary pleasure, temporary joy, temporary peace, temporary everything really!
Why does everything have to be instant?
Why is there a need to be secretive about everything?
Why do we love to gossip?
Why do we lurve to talk about sex?
WHY do we love to talk about celebrities and what they ate last night, or what they said last night, yadda, yadda, yadda? Just because they may look good, doesn’t mean anything really!
Why are we so good at lying?
I could go on and on… But before anyone jumps at me, let me point to your notice that I am not perfect and I do not exempt myself from “we” and say that I don’t do any of the above things. I do. Some of them are things that I really struggle against and I do believe that some things are plain wrong, some are plain unnecessary and a waste of time and some reflect on serious problems that go deeper than what may appear on the surface. It’s worth a thought.

God is good.
I had a good venting yesterday to a good friend and he emailed back and as if to re-iterate his points I got them again in church today. Basically these two points:
1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your strength and all your mind and
2. Love your neighbour
Those are the greatest commandments and those are THE most important things we have to do in life.
Yes! I finally found a church in which I feel comfortable. It's not exactly close by but it is a good church and I met some great people and I felt at home which is great and of course I met people who have some sort of connection with Hebron. It has stopped surprising me now, Hebron is just too connected! I stayed back for the youth group as well and we had lunch, played some games and discussed "live-in" relationships.
Has anyone met a couple in a "live-in" relationship who haven't slept together? Is that possible? I'd say the temptation's got to be pretty darn strong. But then there are people who don't think it is wrong...
Well basically the conclusion we came to is that there are things that we shouldn't do because there are consequences. God created the universe, He created us. He's pretty smart and He knows what is best for us and I don't think being promiscuous is good for us. It's sad how sex is cheapened nowadays. One of the reasons why I really dislike swear words cause a lot of them are to do with sex and don't we just love to throw sex around. Its become a joke and that's sad...

guess who
Why isn't anyone online?
I just ate a laddu; I never eat laddus. A laddu is an orange sweet and its usually too sweet for my liking. In fact, most indian sweets are too sweet for me. But I just ate a laddu and what's more - i liked it! Gasp! What is happening to me??
I'm really bored, as you can tell. Actually I'm not bored, I'm being lazy. There are a million things I could do but I just feel like lazing around today. I woke up at 10 am this morning after a very long time. I have to do something or the other every day of the week most of the time but today I have absolutely nothing to do. That is a glorious and not-so-glorious feeling at the same time.
I feel like eating a pizza and I'm thinking of going to Crosswords in the evening and just sitting there and reading for a while or maybe i'll go to Amarson's park. Haven't been there for a while and sky is clear so its a good day.
Tomorrow is a holiday also! What am I to do with myself.
I should study. I have exams in a month and besides other things, I have no idea what is happening in my Econ class. Its the only class I'm more than willing to bunk on purpose and otherwise!
I finally watched the Godfather on friday afternoon. My brother's got all the three movies at home but somehow I never could get myself interested enough to watch them. So on friday, my friend Vini and I watched it together. There's a wonderful club in college that screens a movie every friday for Rs.5/= per person. Unfortunately (or not so unfortunately) it clashes with one of my Econ classes and I can't skip it too many times or i'll get into trouble. I enjoyed the movie but not sure I would be patient enough to read through the book. Tragic but good. Next week they'll screen the second part.
I'm reading 'The Fountainhead' by Ayn Rand at the moment (stay calm Sharan!) although I haven't really been reading it every day. Still have to get into it. Its interesting so far and goodness knows i've heard enough about it!
Well happy weekend to all!

Cookies and Cocktail biscuits!
YES, we finally had another baking class after like weeks... Tis a long story and I really didn't want to go today and would really have preferred to just have my money refunded but it was good. We made all sorts of cookies and this awesome cheesy cocktail biscuits that tasted yumscious!
Come to think of it, today has been a good-food-day! HA, girls usually talk about good or bad hair days and I talk about food! Anyway, Sonu and I finally discovered 'Sadhana Cafe' on campus which is this awesome (why am I saying awesome so much!?) place that sells pasta, mezze platters, mud-pies, chocolate mousse and all other yummy stuff at really reasonable prices... Its run by the Sadhana school for the mentally challenged and I'm pretty sure I'll be visiting more often!
The internet hasn't been working for a couple of days but I did have a test to study for so I'm looking at it as a blessing. But I don't tend to waste as much time on the net here as I usually do at home cause
1. I don't actually get the net in my room so I have to bring my laptop aaaaalllll the waaaaayyyy to the common room- which is not really all the way but you know. laziness prevails in my bones... (oh crap, I just remembered I was supposed to go and sign up for the hockey team today! oops!)
2. oh and I'm actually supposed to have lots of work to do seeing as I am in college, although it only sometimes feels that way...
Right, I've run out of juices... more later.

Unsung Heroes...
Something that really really bothers me is people littering. While it was great having so many colleges on campus, I really hate the mess they left behind and I also hate how it gives our own college students the 'excuse' to do the same. The 'go with the flow' attitude that I really hate.
"Everybody else is doing it! What difference does it make, if I don't?" I have a strong urge to slap anyone who says that.
First of all, its like admitting that you're insignificant.
Secondly, its just being plain lazy.
Thirdly, its selfish because you're leaving the job to someone else and incase you haven't noticed the world doesn't revolve around you.
That was my rant.
What I really wanted to talk about is the domestic (wonderful people) staff on our campus.
Kaleidoscope came to a close today and there was litter everywhere but these wonderful people cleaned up an entire basketball court strewn with pieces of paper and all other sorts of things within a few minutes. And tomorrow morning we're sure to find the rest of campus clean too.
They are the unsung heroes of Kaleidscope. They are the reason we have such a beautiful campus.

Progressively improving!
I am having an AMAZING time! Day 4 of Kaleidoscope has come to a close and everyday it gets better... Today ended with a fantastic Indian band called 'Parikrama' playing for us and man alive, are they talented! Guitars, Tablas, Harmonica, Drums, oh and the violin!! Seriously I have never heard anyone play like that, I had a blast and so did, I can positively say, the rest of the audience. Most of us came out of the auditorium deaf and having lost our voices from all the screaming.

Tomorrow is Main Day 1 so people will need passes to come onto campus and there's tight security and from what I've seen of another college fest, the crowd is MASSIVE!
The theme of our festival, by the way, is GLOBAL WARMING and creating awareness of it which is fantastic cause it's an issue I feel strongly about and we get cool t-shirts with these logos on them.
As usual, there's soooo much more I want to tell you all and so much I wish you all could see of our festival but its late and tomorrow is a long day and I need sleep, glorious sleep!!

The day I fell on my bum...
...was today!
7:30 in the morning, my dear roomie is trying to wake me up and get me to go to classes and I turn over and refuse to go.
9:00 I finally get up still wanting to sleep and go and fetch some brekky.
Smriti sees me in my pj's and asks, "hey how did you know SD's class was canceled?" (that was the class I missed!)
"It was?!?!"
"So you didn't know!? You were just bunking!?"
"YES!!"
Ahhhhh, fantastic! How often does that happen, right? Got to sleep and didn't miss my attendance either!
Anyway, so I finally got ready and everything and am walking to the canteen to meet Sonal and Joyee (my sweet cousin who is in my class! We didn't know we were related!) and SPLAT!
I'm down on my ass and I've got quite an audience except everyone pretends they haven't seen.
I'm not that much of a klutz, its the monsoon, moss growing everywhere and my chappals have 0 grip.
Great way to start a day but I'm glad I am capable of laughing at myself and I sure did!
College is great! Kaleidoscope (our college fest) has begun and its so weird seeing guys on campus and I'm really quite glad that we don't have boys in our college - no offence to the boys that may be reading this blog. It's just nice have an all girl campus, I think it does a lot for our confidence. Not sure why. Not sure that's the reason I really like not having boys on campus but my brain is not working that efficiently at the moment so ask me later or something...
I have been recruited onto the photography team which is great cause I wanted to be on this team and I have a fantastic job description. I have to video most of the good events in the Auditorium which is all AC and beautifully equipped. Videoing (sp?) is new for me but I think I'm doing okay.
The festival is GREAT! I really wish all you Hebby's were here to see it. I'm really impressed and hats off to the girls or should I say women of Sophia College for pulling it off; maybe I'm speaking too soon cause the main days are Saturday and Sunday and that really says it all but well, so far SO GREAT!
So much more I want to say but I'm really tired and I DO have to attend an 8:00 am lecture tomorrow so night night!

Satsang
Orvi's holiday has almost come to a close which is really sad cause it was great having him around and we tested quite a few cafes and restaurants around Mumbai! The photos below are taken at this 'Moshe's' cafe on top of my favourite bookstore - Crosswords - which is just about a ten minute walk from college. We had... coffee! (I really wanted a cup of Earl Grey but they didn't have any). And Waffles with maple syrup and some funny dip with these long triangly things (as you can tell, I have forgotten what they were called!)
Went home today and had nice clean laundry (bless my granny's helper and washing machine!), lemon squash, fruits (bless my granny) and mail!!! Two letters from Gail in Bangladesh and two small packages from Sarah Hivner containing two CDs by Aradhna!
Prem hamein bhi karnaa sikhaa do, aisee raha pe chalnaa sikhaado
Binti karat hai bhaar bhaar re...
O Lord, Master of all things, fill me with your love
Mold me in your likeness; fill me with your love
O Lord, Master of all things fill me with your love
Teach us how to love, teach us to walk in these ways
I always pray, O Lord, Master of all things, fill me with your love

Two letters from Gail in Bangladesh and two small packages from Sarah Hivner containing two CDs by Aradhna! I think I've written about them before... Anyway Aradhna sings worship songs in hindi and its a beautiful fusion of indian and western instruments like the sitar and guitar and the tabla and harmonium. I really love it and I just don't know how to thank Sarah for being so kind and thoughtful...
